More than fifty acts, for the Celebrations of Hospitalet de l'Infant, from 11 to 16 August
From 11 to 16 August will be held the Major Festival of Hospitalet de l'Infant, in honor of Sant Roc. In these days, the Council of Fiestas of the City Council and the Commission of Fiestas of the Hospitalet have organized, with the collaboration of several entities, more than a fifty of varied acts for all the public. "There will be all sorts of things: cultural, sporting and playful, that is to say, for all tastes, so that everyone can enjoy the party, especially the boys and girls. That is why this year we have increased children's activities", explained The Councilor of Fiestas, Elidia López.
For children, in particular, inflatables have been planned, the show "The Mentirosos", the "Encierro pamplonica" with the attraction of the mechanical bull, the "water slide or surfboard", the sand castle competition, the Fiesta Holi Dolly and Foam Festival (this year in the Plaça Coll de Balaguer, instead of on the Pista Nova llum).
The Councilor of Festivals has also highlighted the traditional proposals, which are the ones that gather more people each year: the fideuá, the XXXI Fire Night, the XXX Meeting of Giants, grallers and other festive groups; The Dance Vora la Mar Blava, the Climb to the Hermitage of Sant Roc, the Great Castle of Fire (in charge of Pirotecnia Valenciana, winners of the International Fireworks Competition City of Tarragona 2016) and the habaneras with tasting burned rum . In reference to the more traditional acts, Elidia López, has highlighted the solidarity nature that will have two scheduled meals: the vermouth of August 12 (the money collected with the sale of tickets will be destined to the Association of Affected Fibromialgia of Hospitalet de L'Infant, and the popular paella on August 15, for the Hospitalet de l'Infant Cancer League.
Concerning the musical performances, it is possible to emphasize the concert of Hotel Cochambre and of the local group Papá Canalla of Sunday 13 of August; And dances with the Nueva Saturno, Tangara, Girasol and Atalaia orchestras. All the dances will take place in the Plaça Berenguer d'Entença, except those of Monday 14 of August that, as novelty, will be done again in the Pista Nova Llum, the old dance floor of the town.
As for sports activities, there will be the traditional Crossing to the swimming port, the kayak route, aquagym, the chess championship IV Memorial Pere Coromines 2017, clay pigeon shooting, soccer games, bowling, etc.
For the tenth year, in addition, the clubs will have a space to meet and carry out activities, in the educational area (the courtyards of the Mestral School and INS Berenguer d'Entença). In this area will be offered concerts, DJ sessions, a brotherhood dinner, zumba, etc. These events tend to attract young people in particular.
"The program of events is the result of the joint work of the City Council and the volunteers of the Festival Committee and many local entities, who get involved and work hard to make sure that everyone has a great time these days," said Councilor Elidia López, Who has thanked the involvement of all people and groups.
The Preacher
The first act of the Celebration of Sant Roc will be the proclamation, scheduled for Friday, August 11 at 7pm at the Casa de la Vila. This 2017 will be in charge of Christiane Leruth Mossoux, the first director of the Municipal School of Music.
This center of musical studies celebrates this year 35 years and, to celebrate this event and to recognize the involvement of this neighbor in the project, the City Council has chosen it as a preacher.
In relation to her, the mayor, Alfons Garcia, said: "With the work of the Christiane and all the people who have formed and are part of this project - both directions, teachers and students - the Municipal School of Music is A training center that has contributed to our appreciation of musical knowledge and can enjoy several auditions and concerts, and has formed several generations in the musical culture.
