Record of the Vandekames mountain race
About 800 people will participate this Saturday August 5 in this sporting event planned in Vandellòs
Some 800 people (755 adults and 45 children) have signed up for the Vandekames, the mountain sports event organized by the Cultural, Sports and Recreation Center of Vandellòs (CCERV) and the Center for the Hiking Center Serres del Mestral, with the support of The Town Hall of Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant. This figure represents a record number of subscribers (a hundred more than last year), according to the organization explained, satisfied to see how they have exceeded their forecasts.
The 7th edition of the Vandekames, scheduled for Saturday 5 August, will consist of two mountain races (the black and red route); Of two walks that do not have competition character (the blue route, of 10,54Km, and the yellow, of 7.47km); And three children's races by age (green courses, 0.25, 0.50 or 0.75km known by VandeKids).
This event is part of the Camp de Tarragona Mountain Racing Circuit (CCTGN). Specifically, the black race, of 25.73km and 1.620m of positive gradient, will be scoring for the Classic Circuit of the CCTGN; And the red race, of 15.63km and 974m of positive difference, for the CCTGN Express Circuit.
The starting point of the races and the walks will be the Square Doctores Gil Vernet of Vandellòs, from 17.30h; And the arrival point, the area of the sports pavilion and the football field, which will be the place where the children's races will be held, starting at 8pm.
All the participants will receive a bag with different gifts and, together with their companions, they will be able to bathe in the municipal swimming pool of Vandellòs. In addition, at the end there will be a popular dinner and music.
It should be noted that the Vandekames is a sporting event "open to all, designed to enjoy in family, which aims to promote sport and raise awareness of the mountains and the natural environment of the municipality," as the organization recalled .
The Councilor for Sports, Cristina Borràs, has highlighted the "great acceptance and social impact of the Vandekames", which has the collaboration of about 200 volunteers and various public entities and private companies; And the fact that it allows "to put in value the natural patrimony of the municipality and the nuclei of interior".
