To make known one of the most important heritage elements of Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, the City Council has organized for the first quarter of the year new guided tours in the gothic hospital of the Infants. Specifically, it has programmed two types:

  • Some directed to the general public, for Saturdays 13, 20 and 27 of January; February 3, 10, 17 and 24; and 3, 10 and 17 March, at 11 am, under the title "Do you know the origin of l'Hospitalet de l'Infant?". These visits have an hour duration and are offered in several languages: Catalan, Spanish, English and French.
  • Some directed to the families, for Saturdays 6 and 27 of January, 17 of February and 10 of March, to 16 hours, under the title "It looks for the treasure learning the history of l'Hospitalet". These visits are aimed at parents and children discovering historical facts in a fun way, with explanations adapted to the age of the children and through a gymkhana. They last an hour and a half and are offered in Catalan and Spanish. The entrance price is 2 euros for adults and one euro for children under 12 years. For children under 4 years old, admission is free.

In each of these visits the visitors center of the Coll de Balaguer Hospital will be shown, the museographic space, located inside the walls of the old fortress hospital, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN). Also, the viewpoint of the southwest tower, from where you can admire the medieval structures still visible and the environment that was glimpsed.
The hospital of Coll de Balaguer or also known as the Hospital de l'Infant Pere was founded and endowed by the Infant Pedro de Aragón and Anjou in 1344, on the plain of the strategic Coll de Balaguer, to defend, secure and populate the territory and the passage by the Coll. The hospital is an example of the civil architecture of the time and stands out for its austerity and majesty, formed in square plan by edge walls 50 meters long and an approximate height of 9 meters, with six defense towers initially projected, of the that two are now accessible, the north tower and the southwest tower. In the Visitors Center, inside the monument, the characteristics and history of this heritage property, origin of the village of l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, are explained.

The City Council of Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant also offers tailor-made guided visits to this heritage property for groups of more than 10 people, lasting one hour, in Catalan, Spanish, English or French.
